Corlie Giliomee has been a lecturer in the Department of Social Work and Criminology at the University of Pretoria, for the last ten years. She has worked in various areas in the field of social work for 15 years. She teaches developmental social work and theories for social work practice and social development. Her academic and research interests focus human rights education, decolonial human rights education, human rights, social justice, social work education, social development and homelessness. She has a passion and vision for the development and promotion of social work education in Africa. From June 2018 Corlie has been serving as the treasurer of the Association of Schools of Social Work in Africa (ASSWA). For the past three years she has been part of the University and College Consortium for Human Rights Education (UCCHRE) where she regularly debates and further her knowledge about human rights education with international scholars.
She has completed her doctoral study titled “Exploring human rights education at schools of social work in Southern and East Africa” during 2020.
