Prof. Busisiwe Nkala-Dlamini is at the University of Witwatersrand,
School of Human and Community Development & Social Work. Busisiwe
Nkala-Dlamini has a master’s degree in health science and a doctorate in developmental
studies. She held the position of lecturer, senior lecturer and head of
department at the Department of Social Work at the University of Witwatersrand
and is currently at associate professor level at Wits. She is has taken on
principal investigator responsibilities for three large HIV prevention trials
in the areas of young women, adolescent health and HIV whilst developing
international collaborations with Canadian and US collaborators. She has
expertise in running trials and was the co-chair of community engagement for a
pivotal study investigating the efficacy of coitally dependent tenofovir gel,
called FACTS 001. She comes with strong project and financial management skills
emanating from running the large clinical trials.
