Prof. Rasool holds a B.A. (social work) from the University of Witwatersrand. Her Master’s and Doctorate is from the University of Oxford (UK), as a Rhodes Scholar. She is the African representative on the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW) and chair of the International Conference on Gender and Sexuality. She has over 40 publications in the fields of: – gender-based violence, decoloniality, gender equality, and intersectionality. She has been head of the department of social work and community development at the University of Johannesburg for two terms. She is committed to transformation, social justice, and solidarity work with international partnerships across the globe.
