Since 2023, Ms Muchiri has served as a representative of her institution in the Association of Schools of Social Work in Africa and as a member of the Women’s Interest Group within the International Association of Schools of Social Work. In collaboration with colleagues at Oxford Brookes University in the United Kingdom, she was part of a team awarded the prestigious Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) for innovative and impactful work on anti-racism in social work. She is actively involved in research in Burundi and beyond and has published a book, book chapters and articles in the Social work and community development field as well as participated in a number of conferences in the global South and North.
